I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Thou shalt have no other gods but me
and free will.
*
To what degree is the will free?
Can it choose to lose it’s chains
And at the ignominious cross see
That it has offended God’s reign?
The realm of Christianity would be
the domain of those smart enough to see
(and what hope would there be
for me?)
The will is locked
dead-set against freedom
until
a gentle refrain comes
not to accuse
but to fulfil
to bear the bruise
No… we will not choose
not even agree,
not free indeed,
until the Son sets
